Energus plans 27,000 sq ft extension

Energy sector training organisation Energus, formerly known as the Nuclear Academy, is planning a new 27,000 sq ft research facility at Westlakes Science Park in Moor Row.

Energus is a partnership between the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, the North West Development Agency, West Cumbria Vision and Sellafield.

The new research facility will house up to 90 people and be built on a green field site on the business park with a separate research hall to house test equipment, along with parking and landscaping.

The building will cost between £5m and £7m and attain BREEAM 'very good' for its environmental credentials.

Energus has an existing 60,000 sq ft facility on Lillyhall Industrial Estate in Workington.
