Edyn to create Liverpool One apartment scheme

The hospitality group and hotel operator plans to open a 60,000 sq ft serviced apartment development within the 10-storey 39 Paradise Street, having signed a 25-year lease on the building.

The upper floors of the building, which sits with Grosvenor’s city centre retail complex, were previously occupied by BridgeStreet Hotel. Urban Outfitters occupies the ground floor.

Edyn’s plans for the scheme include redesigning the hotel to create an as-yet-unspecified number of apartments that will be available for long and short stays from the summer.

Stephen McCall, chief executive of Edyn, said: “As proven over the last 12 months, our quality-focused, long-stay accommodation model naturally aligns with evolving travel needs, positioning us as leaders for the new chapter of hospitality ahead.”

Elsewhere in the North West, Edyn also operates 160 short and long-stay apartments within Whitworth Locke on Princess Street, Manchester.

It also has sites in Edinburgh, Amsterdam and London, among others.

Alison Clegg, managing director of asset management at Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “This commitment from Edyn, as a highly credible, successful and unique operator, strengthens Liverpool One as a leading mixed-use destination.

“This new accommodation concept will see Liverpool One equipped for post-Covid tourism and visitation needs. Alongside the raft of recent signings and regears, this deal with Edyn signifies a bright year for Liverpool One ahead.”

Savills acted for Liverpool ONE. Edyn dealt directly.

Other recent arrivals at Liverpool One include South East Asian bar and brasserie, Mamasan, and a golf simulation concept, On The Green.
