Edgeplan hires planning associate

The Manchester-based practice has appointed former Avison Young associate James Berggren as it seeks to expand its operations.

In his role as planning associate at Edgeplan, Berggren will be based in Manchester and work predominantly across the North, but also lend support on projects elsewhere in the country.

Berggren joins the planning consultancy after four years at Avison Young – first at How Planning, which Avison Young acquired – where he was promoted from senior planner to associate.

He has 15 years’ experience in town planning, having also worked as a consultant at Sedgwick Associates, and as a planning officer at Bolton Council for six years.

Notable projects with which he has been involved include the College of Medical Sciences at Royal Bolton Hospital, a 426-home residential scheme in Clitheroe, and a 788-space multistorey car park in Chester city centre, as well as the 224-room Moxy Hotel at Birmingham’s NEC.

Formed in 2012, Edgeplan is an independent planning practice acting on behalf of the retail, residential and commercial development industries across the UK. It is headed up by director Steve Edgeller.
