Edgefold plots homes near Dunham Massey

The housebuilder has submitted a full planning application to build a collection of family homes on a vacant brownfield site that once housed the Panflora Nurseries on Barns Lane, Warburton.

Under the plans, drawn up by Manchester-based consultancy P4 Planning, the one-acre plot would house nine homes, replacing existing workshop and storage structures that currently still occupy the site. The application has been submitted to Trafford Council.

The development would provide a range of homes with up to five bedrooms, designed by Stockport-based architecture firm Bowker Sadler.

Ken Whitaker, director of Edgefold Homes, said: “With this carefully designed scheme we are proposing to re-purpose a redundant brownfield site and help meet the pressing need for family homes in Trafford.

“If granted consent, the proposal will enhance the local environment and further Edgefold Homes’ ambition to create superb new homes with interesting designs in great locations.”

Edgefold is on site with another scheme in the area, a development of three luxury five-bedroom homes on Richmond Road in Romiley, scheduled to complete in the coming weeks.

As well as Bowker Sadler, transport consultancy SCP is working on the Dunham Massey scheme, with Chadkirk Consulting as project manager, TPM Landscape as landscape architect, Rachel Hacking Ecology as ecologist, Atkinson Peck as drainage consultant and Amenity Tree Care as arboriculturist.

Charlotte Fowler, associate at P4 Planning, said: “The previously developed site has been vacant for over two years, providing no benefit to the surrounding area.

“Through a considered design drawing on the local vernacular, the plans will ensure this brownfield land is transformed into high-quality, residential development that will complement its surroundings.”
