Eddisons wins Armstrong Point contract

The Manchester office of Eddisons has been appointed managing agent of Amstrong Point, which the developer claims is the first zero energy cost business park in the UK.

The 22,500 sq ft industrial estate, designed by JDA Architects, uses a series of passive and active technologies to capture and generate power locally. The energy saving technologies include wind turbines, photovoltaic cells, solar hot water heating, rain water harvesting and innovative cladding. There is also an electric vehicle charging point, using energy generated on site.

Paul Gagan, director of commercial property management at Eddisons, said: "This development represents a massive change to traditional commercial space and gives it a real competitive edge.

"It provides incoming businesses with a substantially reduced cost base as well as helping to neutralise their carbon footprint."

Armstrong Point was partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

David Armstrong of developer Armstrong Properties said: "We are delighted to be working with the Eddisons property management team, whose professional approach and knowledge of sustainable schemes will be of tremendous benefit moving forward."

Armstrong Point is next to the established Greenbank Business Park, and offers accommodation from 1,367 sq ft to 23,389 sq ft. Work on the development is due to be completed shortly.

Armstrong Properties are actively seeking opportunities for further sites across the UK.
