Holiday Inn Express and Hotel Indigo will each occupy Molo Hotels’ 255-bedroom hotel scheme, under plans approved by Liverpool City Council.
Holiday Inn Express will take 130 bedrooms and Hotel Indigo the other 125.
The eight-storey building is located on the site of the former NCP multistorey car park on the corner of Duke Street and Suffolk Street in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool.
Molo Hotels is controlled by directors Richard Whitehead, Marcin Slominski and Lucasz Slominski.
The project was designed by architecture studio Falconer Chester Hall, and Zerum was planning consultant.
Meeting rooms and a gym are also proposed in the application approved this week.
Hospitality group Molo bought the site, which has been used as a surface level car park since the NCP park was demolished in 2007, from Liverpool-based developer Legacie Developments in January, under the name Liverpool Suffolk Street Hotel.
The company then changed its name to Molo Hotels in March.
Legacie unveiled designs in March 2019 for a £30m development before it sold the 24,000 sq ft site.
Martin Haymes, associate director of Falconer Chester Hall, said: “The provision of two hotels on Duke Street will hopefully act as a catalyst for further regeneration of the Ropewalks area.
“We have seen the potential in Duke Street, it’s a wonderful, vibrant location in the middle of the city centre, and this site provides a prime location.”
The project team also includes landscape architect Layer Landscape Architecture and heritage architect Historic Building Consultancy.
Planning consultancy Mosodi advised on transport and travel, and Erap advised on ecology. Hann Tucker Associates conducted a noise assessment.
Duke Street features several hotel developments. Developer Epic Apart Hotel is nearing completion on the conversion of 151-155 Duke Street into serviced apartments, and Henry Space Development won planning consent last November to develop a 200-bedroom aparthotel on the street.
