Double appointment at Genlec

Mechanical and electrical contractor Genlec has announced two senior appointments in newly-created roles.

Genlec has hired Steve Ferns to take on the role of lead design engineer. He previously worked for building services engineer Crookes Walker Consulting and BAE Systems in Barrow.

Ferns will be responsible for all elements within the design phase and head up an internal design team.

Ferns said that “having worked in consultancy for the majority of my career, this was an excellent opportunity to move into contracting.”

Paul Marsden has been hired as operations manager, and previously worked for building services engineering and maintenance contractor Proline Group. Marsden will be responsible for the delivery of all secured projects through to handover, mobilising and managing project teams.

The pair will work alongside company managing director Jonathan Twentyman in Genlec’s Leigh office.

Twentyman said of the appointments: “We have always invested in our workforce, particularly skilled site operatives, however, in taking this strategic long-term approach, it was important to source the right people to work alongside me as we implement our growth plans.”
