DJ surveyor wins BREEAM accreditation

Dr Nick Buck, a sustainability expert in the Manchester office of consultancy Drivers Jonas, has joined the first ranks of BREEAM Accredited Professionals in the country.

Buck can now provide recognised advice to design teams on optimising BREEAM credits for all developments.

The BREEAM AP qualification was introduced by BRE Global in response to client and industry calls for a formal recognition of specialist skills in design of more sustainable buildings. BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings.

Buck said: "Sustainability continues to be a fundamental buiness concern. Increasingly organisations need to measure their success not simply by reference to economic performance, but through consideration of the triple bottom line: incorporating social and environmental issues together with economic performance. Overall, embracing sustainability will improve asset performance, with economic benefits achieved such as cost-savings through energy efficiency, and with the creation of better and more productive relationships between building users and service providers, and their environment."
