DJ leads Stonebridge Cross review team

Drivers Jonas, together with Planit-ie, Waterman Boreham and DK Architects, have been appointed by Liverpool City Council to carry out a fresh development study for the Stonebridge Cross area in Croxteth, Liverpool.

At around 60 acres, Stonebridge Cross is one of the most significant Council owned sites in the city. The site is near Stonebridge Park, which has undergone commercial development by St Modwen as one of Liverpool Vision's strategic investment areas.

DJ's study will inform the creation of a development prospectus for Stonebridge that will allow a viable scheme to be brought forward.

Cllr Peter Millea, executive member for assets and development at Liverpool City Council, said: "Previous plans for the Stonebridge Cross site were halted by the economic climate so the council took the opportunity to take a fresh look at the site, with a particular emphasis on engaging with the local stakeholder community. I am looking forward to the conclusion of this piece of work so that we can then put our new ideas to the market."

Simon Bedford, partner at Drivers Jonas, said: "The site is a hugely attractive opportunity for any developer, with good links to the motorway network and as a north eastern gateway to the city centre.

"Our study will help the eventual masterplan to balance the individual requirements for housing, employment, retail and leisure while ensuring the space is developed in a sustainable way."
