Discussion for Liverpool waterfront plans

A public consultation regarding plans for an exhibition centre and hotel on Liverpool's waterfront will be held on Saturday 13 April.

The meeting will give people the opportunity to see the latest plans for the hotel, which will form part of the Exhibition Centre Liverpool development, discuss the current proposals and provide feedback on the scheme.

Plans for the 90,000 sq ft facility and an outline plan for an integrated hotel were unveiled at a pre-planning application consultation in February.

The latest consultation will include further design details about the 200-room hotel and interlinking bridge between ACC Liverpool and Exhibition Centre Liverpool.

An updated planning application will be submitted later this month.

The Kings Dock development, already home to the BT Convention Centre and the Echo Arena, will be divided into three halls, each 30,000 sq ft in size, and separated by movable walls. It will also feature an atrium, meeting rooms and a business centre.

Cllr Joe Anderson, mayor of Liverpool, said: "This latest consultation event will give people the chance to see how the plans are progressing as we move closer to delivering this world class facility."

Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, said: "We received positive feedback from the public when we held the pre-planning application consultation in February. We now have more detailed plans in place for the hotel and the covered bridge link.

"As the scheme will see the significant development of Liverpool's waterfront, it is important that the public are given the opportunity to let us know their thoughts and to share our vision for this exciting project."

The drop-in sessions will be staffed by officers from the city council, ACC Liverpool, construction company ISG, architects Denton Corker Marshall and planning advisors IBI Taylor Young.

Construction of the new facilities is due to begin in autumn 2013 and will open for business in 2015.

The public consultation for Exhibition Centre Liverpool and hotel takes place on Saturday 13 April at ACC Liverpool from 10am until 1pm.

Sounds like going through the motions rather than real consultation. The first session was on a Friday and a Saturday, now just three hours on a Saturday.
