Discovery Quay phase two plans submitted
Proposals for a 15-storey student building with 457 bedrooms have been submitted to Salford City Council as part of developer Bricks Capital’s Discovery Quay development.
The 41,000 sq ft second phase, which has been designed by KKA Architecture, will sit partially connected to its first phase which gained planning approval in 2018. The 13-storey phase one contains 402 bedrooms, creating 859 rooms in total if this additional phase is approved. KKA also designed the first phase.
The designs include a breakout zone, a library and a sky lounge, along with six car parking spaces, one electric vehicle space, and 183 cycle spaces.
According to the designs, there is further room for an additional tower block, which would become ‘Phase 3’.
The architect said: “There is also scope for a third phase of development on land adjacent to the application site which our client, Bricks Capital, has rights to develop as part of their current commercial arrangement with Peel. The ‘Phase 3’ site is located immediately south west of the proposed phase 2 site and is also an unused and derelict surface car park.”
Dear God!
Who would have thought Architects could still design such dross!
