Dewhurst Dent avoids Bolton mill planning appeal

Dewhurst Dent has secured planning permission from Bolton council for the redevelopment of Union Mill on Vernon Street in Bolton into 141 apartments.

The developer, advised by Jones Lang LaSalle, agreed to financially support the provision of off-site affordable housing, local education and open space; along with assisting in the relocation of existing tenants.

The decision avoids an appeal on a previously refused planning application, successfully overcoming outstanding issues. Andy Frost, director of planning in Jones Lang LaSalle's Manchester office, said: "The development will enhance the local housing offer, improve the local environment and help to stimulate further regeneration opportunities in this area. In all, a sensible decision by Bolton's planning committee was reached."
