Developers picked to join CityCo board

The Manchester city-centre management company has appointed five new board members, including directors from U+I, Bruntwood Works and Allied London.

The nine-strong board now includes James Heather, development director at U+I, Ciara Keeling, chief executive of Bruntwood Works, and Gabriel Erinle, estate director at Allied London and All+.

Keeling said: “CityCo has a strong strategy for Manchester that mirrors how we feel at Bruntwood Works.”

CityCo, which has 1,000 member businesses, manages Manchester’s Business Improvement District, an association of retail and restaurants. It also offers business support, environmental and security services and lobbying, and runs forums, events and promotional initiatives.

Its members include Aviva, BDP, Bruntwood, CBRE, Great Northern, JLL, KPMG, Manchester Arndale, Manchester Central, NOMA, The Printworks, U+I and The Hut Group, among others.

Heather said: “I truly believe that Manchester is a world city, but we cannot be complacent and must continue to collectively work on our ‘offer’ to stand our as a unique destination by playing to our strengths in innovation, education, culture, leisure and retail.”

And Erinle said that CityCo is continuing to devise initiatives for Manchester to “support growth and create a vibrant, resilient city”.

The developer recently gained approval on the first phase of 24-acre Mayfield development behind Piccadilly Train Station, as part of the Mayfield Partnership with Manchester City Council, LCR, and Transport for Greater Manchester.
