A planning application has been put forward for apartments at the derelict Partington Social Club, adding further homes to proposals submitted in March this year.
TSA Property Management put forward plans to build 24 apartments on the site earlier in 2019, in outline form, but has now revised its proposals to add a further six flats, bringing the total up to 30.
The type of apartment has also been rejigged with the flats now due to be one-bed instead of two-bedroom.
The three-storey proposals, put forward by Grays Architecture, are for a three-storey apartment block, featuring 30 one-bedroom flats; these will be brought forward for affordable tenures in partnership with Adactus Homes, part of the Jigsaw Housing Group which manages 34,000 homes across the North West and Nottingham.
Partington Social Club has been closed since it was devastated by a fire in January last year; the site also includes a car park which borders Warburton Lane and Bailey Lane. According to planning documents, the developer has argued the site is “attracting fly tipping and is considered an eyesore to the area”.
Partington is set to see significant development in the coming years with a large portion of the neighbouring land in Carrington allocated for Green Belt release under the emerging Greater Manchester Spatial Framework.
Last summer, Galliford Try Partnerships and Trafford Housing Trust submitted plans for the first 148 homes at a former gas storage site in Partington as part of a wider £100m project.
The housebuilder and the housing trust formed a joint venture in November 2017 and revealed proposals to build as many as 600 houses on site at Heath Farm Lane, which backs on to Carrington Moss.
