Deloitte drives innovation with director hire

Deloitte Real Estate has appointed Manchester director Claire Handby with a remit to enhance growth, performance and innovation across the firm’s real estate programmes.

A specialist in large-scale programme and project management, Handby joins Deloitte from EY, where she consulted on major projects such as the London Olympic Games.

Handby has 18 years’ experience, including senior roles at Laing O’Rourke, Mace Group and McCarthy & Stone, working on projects including Manchester Airport, the Millenium Dome and the Duke of York Army Barracks redevelopment in Chelsea.

At Deloitte, Handby is tasked with enhancing the firm’s performance improvement offer across private and public sector clients. As part of her role, she will utilise partnerships with start-ups and tech companies to drive new innovations in infrastructure and construction and offer strategic advice to clients.

Peter Wilkinson, lead partner at Deloitte Real Estate, said: “Claire’s considerable knowledge in infrastructure and capital programmes, especially where the North is concerned, is incredibly valuable, while her experience of working on defining construction projects such as the Millennium Dome and London Olympics will prove a key asset to us.”
