Dawson goes client-side with Select

Mark Dawson, former corporate partner at law firm Shoosmiths, has joined Select Property Group as a director.

Dawson joined Shoosmiths in 2010 from Halliwells. He advised on several deals in 2014 including the successful exit of Palatine Private Equity and Bridgepoint Development Capital from Hallmark Hotels Group, and on the private equity investments in the Gusto restaurant chain and the Cambridge Satchel business.

Select Property Group is a retailer of investment property, based in Cheshire. Established in 2004, the group delivers investments in emerging markets and through the identification of niche opportunities in established markets. Projects include the development of 260 flats for rent in Greengate Embankment in Salford, and the Vita Student scheme in First Street in Manchester.

Dawson said: "Since I joined Shoosmiths over four years ago, the firm's presence in Manchester has expanded and I am proud to have been part of that success story. The corporate, banking and restructuring teams include some very talented individuals, so I know I am leaving the team in good hands.

"Working closely with clients gives you an insight into the challenges of working in a client side role I am excited to be given the opportunity to gain new experience outside of private practice in such a dynamic business."
