Date set for Fylde Coast MAA signing

The Fylde Coast Multi Area Agreement, a deal between Blackpool Borough Council, Fylde and Wyre and Lancashire County Council, is expected to be signed off in mid-October.

A spokesperson from Government office said: "The MAA signing of Fylde Coast is probably going to be around the 15 October."

The deal will enable the councils in the area to pool funding streams to spend on sub-regional priorities.

The Multi Area Agreement will focus on improving transport links, boosting investment, and encouraging central government bodies to relocate to the area.

Blackpool's opposition to the Tithebarn retail scheme has reportedly been sited as a reason for the delay because the agreement was due to be signed off earlier this year.

However, the Government confirmed last month the widely anticipated public inquiry will be held into the £700m Tithebarn development of Preston city centre by joint venture partners Lend Lease and Grosvenor.
