Daniel Contractors gains water tunnels repair work

United Utilites has awarded Cheshire-based Daniel Contractors with a £1.9m contract to refurbish tunnels providing its water supply network across the North West.

The Thirlemere Aqueduct is part of United Utilities water supply network and can only be taken out of service for limited periods to enable maintenance and refurbishment.

The contract commences over a four-week period in October, with an option to award an extension contract to the successful contractor to undertake additional works in 2010.

A proportion of the contract will be sub-contracted for concrete repair work, internal inspection surveys, valve refurbishment, labour supply, ventilation equipment hire, and photography services.
