Cusack leaves Aecom for Capita

Phil Cusack, regional director of Aecom and a high-profile figure in property and construction as president of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, has joined Capita.

Capita employs 1,000 people in the North West and has its Manchester office in the Observatory on Cross Street, where Cusack will be based. Cusack will be a regional director for business development in the Northern arm of Capita's design and management division.

Cusack spent nine years at Aecom and worked on national accounts including Manchester Airport and Peel Group.

As president of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the largest chamber of commerce in the UK, Cusack holds regular meetings with government ministers and chairs the chamber's policy-making body and its quarterly economic survey presentation.

He is also a member of the board of Atlantic Gateway, on the Bank of England's regional panel and on the board of the Manchester Growth Company, parent organisation to Midas, New Economy and Marketing Manchester.

Cusack said Capita was in a good position to capture significant work in the coming years and he looked forward to being part of a team challenged with capturing that.

Simon Birchall, executive director, design and management, at Capita, said: "Phil is a great appointment for our company. He is well known throughout the North West region and nationally and will be a key component in developing our business and helping customers to access the breadth and quality of our design and management offer."
