Curtins relocates in Kendal

The multidisciplinary consultant has taken a 2,000 sq ft office at Kendal’s K Village, relocating its Cumbria team led by director Andy Roberts.

The consultant has been based in the town since 1977 and has now taken two units at the K Village, moving from its existing premises at Lowther Street to a larger premises.

The team now numbers 13 and is led by Roberts, who took over as office leader in 2013. Disciplines offered from the Kendal office include civil and structural engineering, transport planning, geotechnical, infrastructure, and environmental consultancy.

Projects delivered by the Kendal team in recent years include Cumbria County Council’s offices in Carlisle and jobs for BAE Systems and Glaxosmithkline.

Curtins chief executive Rob Melling said: “The office in Kendal has been long established in Cumbria, allowing us to serve clients across the North West and provide employment opportunities for people wishing to work in the beautiful Lake District location.

“I’m pleased to now share the news of our office expansion. It’s an excellent development for all of us here at Curtins, which will facilitate the continued growth of our business in Cumbria and Lancashire.”

Much of the K Village, a former shopping centre, is due to be converted into a 69-bedroom hotel and 88 apartments. Opened in 2010 on the site of the former K Shoes factory, the K Village has struggled, with the majority of its 43,000 sq ft space now empty.
