Cumbria seeks extra care partner

Cumbria County Council has launched the search for a social housing development partner for a housing and care facility in Workington.

The appointed partner would design, develop and manage around 45 extra care housing units, alongside five respite units.

The council would provide up to £500,000 for the site, £500,000 toward the respite units, and potentially up to £1m in gap funding.

The council said the project was subject to funding approval and the authorisation of the council's cabinet.

The contract is expected to start in November this year, ending in November 2017. The deadline for receipt of tenders is 18 August 2014.
