Crompton Place in talks with Reel

Owners of Bolton's Crompton Place shopping centre are in negotiations with Reel Cinema as a potential operating partner for its multi-screen development.

Santander, which owns Crompton Place, submitted a planning application to Bolton Council in February to build a 1,300-seat cinema with the capability to show 3D movies. The plans are expected to be considered within the next three weeks.

The new 11-screen facility will fill the currently unoccupied unit on the first floor of Crompton Place. Plans also include redeveloping nine ground floor units to create four new restaurants.

Reel is a national chain with complexes in 15 locations across England and Wales.

Malcolm Angus, manager of Crompton Place, said: "Our discussions with Reel have been extremely positive and we are now moving into a detailed stage and fine tuning the proposals to create a first-class leisure development at Crompton Place.

"Reel particularly favour the central location, car parking availability, scheme layout and close proximity to the proposed restaurant units which will guarantee the success and vitality of this scheme."
