Crewe station work underway

A new image has been released showing the layout of the proposed £6.5m new entrance to Crewe Railway Station.

Demolition work started this week to remove Weston House to make way for the new development.

The new graphic shows a glass facade to replace the outdated Royal Mail sorting office and a lower ground access to platforms via a revamped pedestrian subway.

The new layout caters for vehicle drop-offs at the front of the station, new taxi rank and disabled access. Commuters will have the option of parking at the front of the building in a new 258-space surface car park.

Eight weeks of traffic restrictions on Weston Road begin on Monday 12 August.

The £6.5m joint project with Network Rail is funded from the Government's £100m rail stations improvement fund.
