Create set to start on Sharp Street Hilton hotel

Create Developments is set to start on Hampton by Hilton’s first hotel in central Manchester early next year, with the development due to open in 2020.

Create Developments will build the £17.5m, 221-bedroom hotel on the corner of Sharp Street and Rochdale Road through its sister company Create Construction, and is due to start on site in early 2018.

Designed by TG Architects, the mixed seven-and-nine storey hotel will also include a restaurant, fitness centre, and meeting space. Tier Consulting is structural and civil engineer on the scheme, and Sandy Brown is the acoustic consultant.

The Hampton by Hilton hotel is expected to welcome its first guests in early 2020, under a franchise agreement with Create Developments, with Redefine BDL Hotels acting as hotel manager.

The project is being funded by Create Developments, Hong Kong-based IP Investment Management, and Maven Capital Partners.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of EMEA development, Hilton said: “The regeneration of Manchester’s Northern Quarter has brought new investment into the city, resulting in a vibrant, creative neighborhood – the ideal location in which to introduce our first Hampton by Hilton hotel.

“With business in Manchester thriving, and more and more tourists visiting the city’s cultural and sporting attractions, demand for our brands is rising.”

Plans for the project were originally approved in July 2016, with the construction management plan suggesting a start on site of November 2016.

It will be the second Hampton by Hilton hotel that Create has worked on, with the contractor currently on site at a Hampton by Hilton in Blackpool, due to complete in May 2018.
