CPUK breaks ground at £10.2m social housing project

Construction Partnership UK and Stockport Homes are building 113 affordable homes on the site of a former bus depot in Charles Street, Stockport.

The £10.2m project will deliver 79 houses and 34 apartments as well as communal areas for residents, delivering properties for social rent and also for affordable shared ownership.

CPUK’s remediation team has started on site with the demolition of the bus station and associated warehouses, and is completing specialised remediation and re-engineering work to enable construction to begin on the houses later this month.

The homes have been designed by Cheshire architect Howard & Seddon and work on site is scheduled for completion in November 2017.

CPUK’s social housing development arm Affordable Living is aiming to deliver 300 homes each year, and is working in partnership with Lane End Developments to source the land and build the schemes for registered housing providers.

Steve Burke, CPUK managing director, said: “Both our new divisions will be working to deliver this project, highlighting our ability to offer a full construction and development service to clients, from demolition and site remediation to building work.

“It is another major contract for CPUK Affordable Living which has really hit the ground running and is opening the door to more opportunities for our business.

“Our strategic alliance with Lane End Developments, is already beginning to provide quality new-build solutions to several housing associations in the North West.”
