CPO to unlock Crown Point East

A compulsory purchase order will be made in the summer to assemble land required for the expansion of the retail park in Denton.

Tameside Council renewed Langtree's planning consent earlier this year for 135,000 sq ft of retail, as well as 32,000 sq ft industrial / trade-park space as well as 88 apartments.

Huw Davies, assistant executive director of housing, planning and economic development at Tameside Council, said the finishing touches were being put to the CPO and he expected it to be served on landowners in the summer.

Langtree gained consent for the scheme, next to J1 of the M67 and J24 of the M60, in 2008. If built, Crown Point East would act as an extension of British Land's adjacent Crown Point Shopping Park, home to Boots, Tesco Homeplus and TK Maxx among others.
