Countryside in Fylde land buy

The national housebuilder has finalised a deal to secure 31 acres off Lytham Road, between Warton and Freckleton, where it has consent for 345 homes.

Billed as Beaumont Green, the development is to include 105 affordable homes, to be taken on by housing association Jigsaw, and will include housing of between two and four bedrooms, with public open space and a playground. Work is scheduled to start in January.

Fylde Council approved the plans in January 2021, with a Section 106 commitment of £1m+, including £650,000 towards local education provision, £375,000 for public transport, £24,000 to the council’s sustainable travel team, and a further £126,000 towards enhancements to Warton village centre.

Mark Hadfield, managing director, Merseyside and Cheshire West at Countryside, said: “The site purchase means we will, in the New Year, begin our significant investment in the area, investment that will have a far-reaching impact in the local community.

“We look forward to commencing work on site at Beaumont Green and to playing our part in a thriving future for Warton.”

The site is close to the former Great Birchwood holiday park, where developer Bellair this week submitted plans for 62 homes.

In October, Countryside filed plans for a 365-home development in Fitton Hill, Oldham, while the firm this month announced Joe Turner as its new managing director for Manchester and Cheshire East.
