Countdown to the inaugural MBNA Northern Sports Awards
Join cricket legends Clive Lloyd and Darren Gough, and master of ceremonies, snooker and Strictly Come Dancing star Willie Thorne, at the inaugural MBNA Northern Sports Awards on 4 July.
The black-tie event at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Ground, has already attracted 350 guests but there are tickets remaining on sale .
The MBNA Northern Sports Awards brings together all sporting disciplines, commercial and professional bodies and other interested parties from across the North together with fans and supporters in one evening's celebration.
Award categories include Best Business Services to Sport Award, Best Community Programme, Best Grassroots Club or Scheme and Best Grassroots Sports Coach.
The compere on the night is the former snooker champion, Strictly Come Dancing star and now broadcasting pundit Willie Thorne.
A number of major sporting figures have signed up to support the Awards including sporting legend Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff who said: "Sport plays an important role in many people's lives, and an event such as this is long overdue for the region.
"The North produces many excellent sportsmen and women, from grassroots through to elite performers at the top of their game.
"The MBNA Northern Sports Awards will provide a platform for these people to be recognised for the role they play contributing to the sporting world, and helping to get the North placed prominently on the UK sporting map."
