Councils offer £4.75m finance to DataCentred

Salford-based technology start-up DataCentred has secured a £4.75m loan from the Greater Manchester Investment Fund to help pay for the next phase of its expansion.

DataCentred signed a 15-year lease with Peel on a 32,000 sq ft unit at Michigan Park next to Media City UK at the start of this year.

The company provides data storage and is headed by Mike Kelly, a former Manchester University computer scientist who built and floated TeleCity, one of the first companies to provide data centre co-location space.

DataCentred will now enter a period of due diligence before finalising the loan with GMIF, which is administered by the combined authority for the 10 councils of the city region.
