Council to hold Blacon event

Cheshire West & Chester Council is inviting local people to come along to an event in Blacon that aims at making environmental improvements to the area.

The event, known as the Safer Stronger event, will run from Tuesday 25 April until Thursday 28 April.

Throughout the three day event the council said the area will see improvements undertaken by its Streetscene teams and Chester & District Housing Trust will be improving the gardens of six residents, with the help of young people from its Our Say, Our Way project.

The council's community safety wardens will also be increasing their patrols throughout Blacon, linking with community groups, such as Sliver Threads, to provide crime prevention advice.

The council's mobile CCTV will also be deployed in areas with the aim of tackling reports of anti social behaviour.

Gavin Butler, the council's community safety manager, said: "This important event tackles issues raised by the community and we would like as many people as possible to become part of this Safer, Stronger event.

"There are a wide variety of projects on offer so please come along and take part."

Chester & District Housing Trust will also be providing 12 young people with the opportunity to attend MTB pursuits, which is an outdoor bike track that provides a range of mountain biking experiences for all ages and all levels of competencies.
