Council tenders for Walney school revamp

Cumbria County Council is offering a construction contract worth up to £6m for redevelopment work at Walney School in Barrow-in-Furness.

The local authority is seeking a suitable contractor to undertake a project which involves both new build and refurbishment at the school on Sandy Gap Lane.

The 16-month contract includes the construction of a new sports hall and extensions to parts of the existing school building, as well as new site access, additional car parking, and landscape works.

Work is due to start in the spring of next year.

Deadline for submitting tenders is 4pm on Tuesday 14 December.
