Landowner Blackpool Council has put forward plans to Wyre Council for a 30-acre site at Woodhouse Farm in Carleton.
De Pol Associates, the Lancashire planning consultancy, has submitted the outline planning application for 330 new homes for a site to the south of Blackpool Road, of which around 30%, or 99 homes, would be affordable. The exact mix, tenure, and design of the properties would be determined at the reserved matters stage, along with specifics with regards to roads and access. An indicative parameters plan suggests two access points off Blackpool Road. Around seven acres have been reserved for green infrastructure.
Kirkham-based architect DC&MG provided additional support with the design and layout.
The site, which was declassified as Green Belt in February, has received seven objections since its submission to the council at the end of June. The objections and comments centre on the loss of green space, traffic, and drainage issues already in the surrounding area.
De Pol submitted the plans on behalf of its client Blackpool Council.
Alexis De Pol, managing director of De Pol Associates, said that this application supports “the drive to deliver some of the thousands of new homes needed by Wyre Council in the coming years.
“While the application site is not within an allocated area, it lies immediately adjacent to one and has been identified by the Local Plan Examination Inspector as sustainably located.”
