Costello joins Seddon

Bolton-based Seddon Construction has appointed Tony Costello from civil engineering specialist Daniel Contractors as training and development manager.

Costello's responsibilities will include heading up apprentice recruitment and the company's work with schools, colleges and universities as well as managing graduate training programmes. This year Seddon is taking on 75 new apprentices and trainees to mark its 75th anniversary of apprentice recruitment.

He previously worked as head of training for construction company Bethell Group and spent seven years at sector skills council CITB-ConstructionSkills.

Costello said: "I'm excited to have joined a company with such a progressive approach. Seddon has demonstrated it is totally committed to securing the future of the industry through solid investment in training and practical measures – including this year's anniversary recruitment drive."

Jonathan Seddon, managing director of Seddon Construction, said: "Tony has extensive training and development expertise, having worked in the construction industry for over 25 years with an extremely strong training track record.

"Training is a core element of our business strategy – it was therefore important that we attracted someone of his calibre to help us continue to work strategically both to bring new people into the industry and nurture the considerable talent that exists within the business."

Hi Tony,
Would it be possible for our Y10 students to have a look around the building site in Hindley preferably a Tuesday am ? I was at the coordinators meeting last week at Hawkley Hall.
regards
Sandra
