Copeland appoints assessor for open spaces

Bury firm Knight Kavanagh & Page has landed the contract to carry out an open space and protected green space assessment for Copeland Council, which will inform the borough’s Local Plan.

KKP beat four competitors to the appointment, which will see the business contribute to Copeland’s evidence base for the 2017-2035 Local Plan.

Following the appointment, KKP is to produce an updated open space assessment and review and recommend protected green spaces for the local plan.

The work was commissioned alongside a Settlement Landscape Character Assessment that will consider the capacity and potential for development around the edge of settlements in the borough, together with any areas that should be protected.

KKP’s client roster includes the Football Association and Sport England, for whom it developed the community use plan for the National Football Centre at St George’s Park, Burton-on-Trent; along with Liverpool, Glasgow and Sunderland City Councils.
