Contractors sought for £120m Sellafield task

Sellafield is seeking expressions of interest for the completion of a stalled £120m construction project at the Seascale site in Cumbria.

The contract relates to the completion of a Box Encapsulation Plant Product Store and Direct Import Facility placed on hold in 2002 due to "technical uncertainties".

Work originally started on the construction project in the late 1990s.

A tender document states: "The project will provide an import capability and above ground storage for containerised Intermediate Level Waste until the Geological Disposal Facility becomes available."

Work is scheduled to start in June next year and last 45 months.

Sellafield is to host a supplier engagement day relating to the project in August.
