Contractors required for Bolton park restoration

Bolton Council is looking to restore the Grade II-listed Queens Park and is requiring contractors to carry out the landscaping and refurbishment work.

The Victorian public park is situated on the edge of Bolton town centre, with the southern part of the park surrounded by the River Croal and the Spa Road playing fields. The work is part of the overall delivery of the three year restoration project.

Work includes the refurbishment of the lodge building and the building of an adjacent pavilion building, starting 1 July this year, with a completion date set for 1 April 2011. Restoration of perimeter gates, railings and stonework is expected to start in August this year and aimed to be complete by 31 March 2011.

A children's play area, covering an area of 19,340 sq ft, is also expected to be installed and complete by 31 May 2012. This will feature two zones including one for those aged 5 years old and under and the other for those aged between 6 and 13.

Deadline for submitting tenders is 4pm, Wednesday 7 April this year.
