Contractor kicks off £9.6m Anglesey scheme

Anwyl Partnerships has started work on a 60-home development for housing association ClwydAlyn close to the Coleg Menai Pencraig campus on Anglesey.

Development of the vacant 4.2-acre site, formerly part of the college campus, will include 44 two‐ and three‐bedroom houses and 16 two‐ and three‐bedroom apartments, to be delivered for housing association ClwydAlyn.

Anwyl Partnerships will use its local in‐house project team supported by a local supply chain. Works are scheduled for completion in May 2023.

Mike Nevitt, managing director of Anwyl Partnerships, said: “This is a large project that essentially includes the construction of a brand new community in Llangefni, creating 60 much needed affordable homes for rent or sale.

“Community really does matter with this project and the site has been designed to help cultivate this ethos. Our approach will marry the long term vision of our clients and will be community-led throughout.”

Air source heat pumps are to be used at the scheme.

Craig Sparrow, executive director at ClwydAlyn said: “This is an exciting new scheme on Anglesey that will provide high-quality affordable homes and will address a key need for housing in the local area as well as provide a great learning opportunity for students from the college.”

Anwyl Partnerships is the arm of the Anwyl Group business that specialises in delivering housing in the affordable and social housing sectors.

In September, it started work for Wales & West Housing at Cefn Mawr in Wrexham and progressed plans to build 79 homes on a former NHS site in St Helens.
