Construction of Wigan houses consented

Wainhomes, represented by Barton Willmore, has been granted planning permission for up to 80 homes in Standish.

The houses will provide a mix of tenures, including up to 25% affordable housing and a minimum of 40% two and three bedroom properties.

Wigan Council’s planning committee unanimously agreed to approve the scheme at Langham Road earlier this week.

The site will provide the final phase of Wainhomes’ Cat i’ th’ Window development which is under construction.

The project includes green space, public footpath and cycle ways, as well as a new pond for newts.

Dan Mitchell, planning partner at Barton Willmore, said: “This site is the last piece of the jigsaw in what is an area identified by the council for residential growth. The scheme provides net ecological benefits, a better mix of homes and improvements to The Line, an important local recreation route.”
