Construction of new Manchester study facility required

The University of Manchester is looking to appoint a contractor to undertake the design, construction and fit-out of a new 58,000 sq ft study facility.

The university said the new building "will accommodate over 1,000 learning spaces within a mixture of open plan learning areas and a variety of group learning rooms".

The £12.5m contract will involve accommodating an empty building covering 46,000 sq ft, which has been retained, as well as extending the study facility by 12,000 sq ft on Oxford Road in Manchester.

Work is scheduled to start in January next year with an aim of completing in May 2012.

Deadline for submitting tenders is 26 April this year.
