Construction Hub finally starts to reveal EPS panel

The first wave of approved suppliers on the overdue engineering and professional services framework of the North West Construction Hub have been named.

Letters have been sent to the successful firms by procurement managers at Manchester City Council, which oversees the regional framework on behalf of public sector partners, for three disciplinary areas but the majority of categories remain unfilled.

The lots which have been awarded so far this month are:

  • 1-3: Project and programme management
  • 4-14: Regeneration / landscaping / artisan
  • 54-64: quality surveying panel.

The lots which remain to be awarded are:

  • 15-25: Architectural design
  • 26-28: Sustainability and environment
  • 29-31: Valuation and market analysis
  • 32-42: Civil/structural engineering
  • 43-53: Mechanical/electrical/building services
  • 65-75: Building survey panel
  • 76-78: Multi-discipline services

A spokesman for Manchester City Council said: "As regards the outstanding lots, we anticipate that notification to all tenderers on the outcome of the tender process will take place over April and May, as the process will be carried out in phases."

The initial deadline for expressions of interest was November 2010, followed by more detailed applications from shortlisted firms into 2011.

The delayed announcement angered bidders, who spent large amounts of time on money compiling bids for the £300m framework, which they saw as a vital lifeline during the downturn, only to hear nothing.
