Construction awards shortlist revealed

The finalists have been announced for the 11th North West Regional Construction Awards, ahead of the awards ceremony in June.

The awards are hosted by the School of the Built Environment at the University of Salford, Constructing Excellence North West and the Centre for Construction Innovation.

Place North West is returning media partner for the North West Regional Construction Awards, which aim to celebrate outstanding examples of best practice, commitment, and collaborative and sustainable project delivery across the built environment.

This year’s awards ceremony and dinner will take place on Friday 23 June 2017 at the Principal Hotel, Manchester.

Professor Peter McDermott, chair of the judging panel and Constructing Excellence in the North West, said: “This year has seen an increase in the number of entries. The submissions are clearly pan-industry and cross-disciplinary. There has been some minor adjustment to the categories this year, which has served to focus the judges on those that are demonstrating how collaboration and innovation are characteristic of the North West region.”

Winners from the 2016 awards include Farnworth Tunnel in Bolton for project of the year; Willmott Dixon for contractor of the year; Revealing the Roch for the heritage award; and Manchester & Cheshire Construction for SME of the year.

The winners announced in June will go head-to-head with other regions for the National Constructing Excellence Awards in November.
