Constructing Equality hires former CCI boss

Roy Stewart has today joined training organisation Constructing Equality, based in Runcorn, as stakeholder development manager.

The move is Stewart's first since Salford University's decision to close the Centre for Construction Innovation North West in autumn 2013.

The CCI organised the North West Construction Awards, which are understood to be continuing under new management, and delivered training programmes for the industry.

Stewart has 30 years' experience in construction, 11 of them at CCI.

Constructing Equality employs seven staff and delivers specific training on diversity and equality issues. It was founded in 2007 by Chrissi McCarthy. Clients have included Construction Skills, Coventry Council, Elevate, Vinci, Kier, Oldham College, Salford University and Bullock Construction.

Constructing Equality is currently concluding the pilot phase of the CITB's Be Fair Accreditation Framework and plans to launch two new products in 2014.
