Consent nears for 310 Huyton homes

Keepmoat is set to secure outline planning permission for a 310-home development in North Huyton after the scheme was recommended for approval by Knowsley Council.

Keepmoat is proposing to build the homes on a site north of Princess Drive in Huyton. It was previously home to a number of vacant houses and the former Page Moss library building on Stockbridge Lane, which have all been demolished.

Around two-thirds of the site is allocated as a primary residential area under Knowsley’s local plan, with the other third allocated as urban greenspace and educational land.

The 310 homes will be available for shared ownership, and 10% of these will be designated as affordable. Housing association and social enterprise First Ark will manage these affordable homes.

The outline planning application forms the fourth phase of Knowsley’s North Huyton redevelopment, which already has 330 homes either completed or under construction.

Council planning officers recommended Keepmoat’s proposals for approval at today’s planning committee meeting, subject to contributions of £300,000 towards public open space, and £27,000 towards highways improvements.

MPSL acted as planner and designer for the project.

A whole community was run down and bulldozed into the ground, now a private housing development is moving in, well, we’ll.
