Consent granted to Wrea Green homes

Fylde Council has voted in favour of Story Homes’ proposals for up to 49 houses in Wrea Green, Lancashire.

The original outline proposal for the land off Willow Drive, submitted in spring 2014, was for up to 100 homes. A revised scheme for 49 homes was submitted in October last year. However, despite being given a recommendation for approval, the plans were turned down.

The scheme was resubmitted in July this year following talks with the council’s planning officers.

The decision is subject to the completion of a legal agreement on contributions towards affordable housing, transport improvements, and education.

Also in Fylde, Story Homes recently launched the sale of homes on Brookwood Park, a development of 117 houses off Blackpool Road in Kirkham.

Story Homes was advised on planning by Barton Willmore and the architect was Pod Urban Design.

David Hayward, development planner for Story Homes said: “Not only will our proposals deliver a high-quality and sensitive scheme that complements the existing character of the village and provide open space for use by the whole community, it will also boost the supply of much needed new homes and make a positive contribution towards the supply of affordable housing in the borough.

“Our proposals will also provide local contractors with opportunities for work, and there will be knock on benefits for local supply chains and other local businesses and services.”
