Conlon toasts £10m of new orders

Preston-based Conlon Construction said it has won £10m of building and refurbishment contracts during the summer.

The wins include work on primary schools in Cheshire and St Helens, a new science block at Lytham St Annes Technology College, refurbishment of the Museum of Lancashire in Preston and a Resource Centre in Burnley.

Michael Conlon, construction director at the firm, said: "The construction industry is often the first to be hit in a recession, and the last to come out. To have won this string of contract awards reflects the company's stability in the current market which is reassuring for our employees, supply chain partners and clients."
