Conlon picks up GB school job

Conlon Construction has taken over as the main contractor on a £10m independent free school in Warrington, which stalled after original contractor GB Building Solutions went into administration in March.

The project was awarded under the Education Funding Agency Regional Contractors Framework and will see the Preston-based contractor build a 73,000 sq ft facility for the King’s Leadership Academy.

Designed by Pozzoni, the 50-classroom development on greenfield land will comprise a double-height colonnade, feature entrance, sports hall, games pitch, gym and fitness studio. The school will accommodate 840 secondary and Sixth Form pupils and the project is scheduled for completion in June 2016.
