Completion close for Bolton office scheme

Work on Bolton Central, a 30,000 sq ft five-storey office building in the town centre, is set to be completed within days.

Construction of the £6.5m scheme, at the corner of Great Moor Street and Newport Street, started in December 2015.

Bolton Central has been developed by PSP Bolton, a public and private sector partnership comprising Bolton Council and Public Sector Plc.

Robertson Construction has been the main contractor, with local firms including Lancashire Brick & Tile also involved in the project.

The leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris, was last week given a tour of the building, which adjoins the town’s £48m transport interchange. The interchange is being delivered by Transport for Greater Manchester in partnership with Bolton Council and is scheduled to open early this summer.

Morris said: “This building is a key part of the redevelopment of this side of town and is in a prime location, next to the modern new interchange and the refurbishment of Newport Street – an important gateway into the town centre.

“We are working to make Bolton town centre a more vibrant place to come to work, shop and spend your leisure time and our plans are now coming together.”

Negotiations with a potential tenant are being progressed by PSP Bolton, with the aim that a lease will be agreed in the coming weeks.
