Co-working space to launch for property people

Michelle Rothwell’s startup developer Watch This Space is to launch “the UK’s first property co-working space” as part of its new office at 31-33 Princess Street in Manchester city centre.

The concept, called That Space, will open in early August offering a flexible co-working environment exclusively for organisations operating in the property sector. Watch This Space has taken 1,800 sq ft on a five-year lease and can house up to 20 people in total.

Companies of up to four employees can sign up to the scheme for an all-inclusive monthly fee. In addition to offering tenants facilities including meeting rooms and breakout areas, Watch That Space aims to create a healthy environment, providing bike storage areas and showers to encourage those who want to cycle to work; and evening yoga classes. That Space, will also be used for property events and roundtable discussions.

Michelle Rothwell, formerly of CBRE and Capital & Centric, said: “That Space aims to challenge the traditional office concept and meet the expectations of Generations X and Y. By creating a flexible workspace with quirks such as free beers and living walls, the idea is that like-minded organizations can come together, collaborate and grow. We’ve made the decision to move there so we can be really hands-on. We’ve had good interest already and I’m really excited about creating this hub that property companies can benefit from.”

Rothwell continued: “I believe this dedicated co-working space will appeal to a wide range of occupiers, from consultants to London-based companies that need a satellite office in the North.

“That Space is the first in a long line of concepts that Watch This Space will be launching in our mission to provide inspiring places to work for forward thinking, dynamic organisations.”
