Co-op property team welcomes Britannia staff

The Co-operative Bank's property finance team in Manchester has absorbed 11 staff from the Britannia Building Society following the merger in 2009.

The office manages £4bn out of a loan book in excess of £5bn. The remaining £1bn is handled by business centres around the rest of the UK.

The single team now totals 26 specialists following the transfer of the Britannia team from Stoke-on-Trent to the head office in Balloon Street, Manchester.

Chris Wilson, head of real estate and public sector at the bank, said: "This is a really positive move and Manchester is now home to one of the UK's leading specialist property finance teams under the stewardship of Phil Basten.

"The Britannia team brings with it an excellent portfolio of customers who will benefit further from a full relationship management service.

"The Bank's outstanding performance during the credit crisis leaves it well placed to continue lending to experienced property players with strong portfolios."
