CityConversation – The Art of Placemaking

CityCo is hosting a panel discussion in March at BDP's Manchester studio about how cities can be transformed through placemaking and thoughtful use of public space.

Pete Swift, director of Planit-IE, will talk about the placemaking strategy behind a diverse range of transformational projects that include the regeneration of Liverpool's Garden Festival site, the Airport City Manchester masterplan and Etihad Campus in East Manchester.

Andrew Erskine, senior associate of Tom Fleming Creative Consultancy, will focus on innovation and the creative economy, with a special interest in the business of culture, creative places and spaces.

David Partridge, managing partner, Argent, will discuss how, since 2001, Argent has planned, managed and delivered the regeneration of Kings Cross, the largest area of urban redevelopment in Europe.

The conversation will be chaired by Gavin Elliot, director of architecture at BDP.
